Haliday Douglas joins the SLPS Foundation

Dear SLPS Foundation Stakeholders,

As we continue our pursuit of ensuring access to an excellent education for all students in the Saint Louis Public Schools, we are excited to share that the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation is wrapping up our year-long strategic planning efforts.  While the pandemic has certainly had its impact on all sectors of society, one of the most significantly impacted is our educational system, and consequently children.  We look forward to sharing how the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation plans to hone in on the health and well-being of children at each critical transition point during their school experience (early childhood, middle-school, and high school) to ensure they are prepared for college or skilled careers.

The Foundation is proud to announce that beginning this week, Haliday Douglas will be joining the Foundation as our Interim President & CEO, and leading our strategic efforts. Haliday has a long career in education and youth-serving organizations, including Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, Saint Louis Public Schools, and the Tennessee Department of Education. His tenure with SLPS and familiarity with the district and its leaders will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation.  Most recently, Haliday has invested his time in founding and leading Sons and Daughters of St. Louis, an organization that uses community design to address systemic social challenges facing youth.

Haliday has agreed to serve until the end of the calendar year, during which time the Foundation will conduct a national search for a permanent President & CEO. Please join me in welcoming Haliday to our organization!

Our current President & CEO, Bridget Jones, will be leaving the Foundation on Friday, May 13, to pursue other opportunities. We are grateful to Bridget for her contributions to our work, and sincerely give thanks for her service to the children in our city and wish her the best in her next endeavors.

This is an exciting and pivotal time for the St. Louis Public Schools and the students and families it serves. The pandemic continues to impact young people in profound ways – in their learning, in their development, and in their overall health and wellbeing. Our city and our schools have urgent needs. The St. Louis Public Schools Foundation’s track record of successful investments to improve education, plus our valued and trusted relationship with the school district, put us in a great position to rise to this occasion and rally broad support for our city’s children and youth, our school leaders and educators, and our families and communities.

We are grateful for your partnership and commitment to the Foundation and are eager to further and deepen our collaboration with you. Thank you for all that you do to support the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation.
